Verified in-village split (July 2026 math audit, Nassau LRV parcel tax tables). In-village parcels pay no county police-district, town highway, or fire and sanitary lines: the village levy funds RVC's own police, sanitation, and roads.

South Side High School ranks #611 nationally (U.S. News). The district spends $40.2K per student on ST-3 actuals, among Long Island's higher spenders, and delivers strong outcomes for it.

2026-27, resolved: the January $3.78M projected deficit was closed by the April 16 adopted budget ($141.32M, +1.03%), eliminating about 22 teaching and 40 teaching-assistant positions. Voters approved it 1,915-1,195 on May 19. Structural drivers remain: health insurance +10%, out-of-district special ed at $6.38M, revenue growth ~1%. This squeeze is why the housing turnover agenda exists.

Municipal electric: RVC's Electric Department supplies power ~15-20% below PSEG Long Island, roughly $200-350/yr saved per household. About 75% comes from NYPA Niagara hydro.

The volunteer fire department avoids the payroll of a paid department; unofficial estimates put the avoided cost at $8-12M annually (no published study).

Policing cost split (corrected July 2026): because RVC runs its own police department, in-village parcels are exempt from the Nassau police-district tax and pay only the county police headquarters line. Village policing is funded through the village levy instead.

The data ask lives here: the Assessment Department holds the parcel-level senior exemption counts that every downstream fiscal decision needs. It does not publish them by school district.

$167.90
Sanitary District 2 line per $100 AV, outside the village

Why $0 (corrected July 2026): in-village parcels pay no separate special-district lines. The village levy funds RVC's own fire, sanitation, water, and roads. RVC-schools parcels outside the village do pay these lines through the Town of Hempstead general bill. Verified against Nassau LRV parcel tax tables.

03 · Your New York State income tax

Estimates only: simplified 2025 bracket math. NYS cuts its bottom five brackets by 0.1 point in 2026 and again in 2027; the 6.85% bracket is unchanged.

State Operating Funds shares, FY2026 (~$143B). The state's largest lines: Medicaid and health (33%), school aid (27%, including the STAR program and the $2,058/yr downsizing dividend from the mechanics page), higher ed and local aid (22%), transportation and the MTA (12%, including the LIRR), public safety (6%).
